About Us

Wheatlands facility from the outside parking lot

As the premier Continuing Care Retirement Community in Kingman, Kansas, Wheatlands Health Care Center is located on the northwest edge of Kingman which is ideally situated for a view of the country while being close to town and to the Kingman Community Hospital.

Our team of healthcare professionals is led by our Administrator, Nikki Schmitz. Nikki has been a licensed nursing home administrator since May of 2020.  Nikki started her long-term care career in 2002. She considers herself very fortunate to have the opportunity to practice her chosen profession in her hometown and at the facility she has been at since 2002. Rochelle Rosenhagen is our Director of Nursing. Together they lead the WHCC team to provide care with person-centered care as a focus. Residents choose their schedules and make plans for the day. Smaller neighborhoods and consistent staffing help make the facility a fun place both for residents and staff. All employees work together with the residents’ needs a top priority. Employees are empowered to assist the residents to have what they need and do what they want to do each day.

Each of our “neighborhoods”, Lilac Lane, Sunflower Way, and TLC Angels, have dedicated staff that works together with the Activity and Social Service Director to provide parties and other social engagements. They encourage residents to pursue their own interests and activities that allow them to maintain meaningful and fulfilling lives. Our trained activity professionals regularly schedule therapeutic and leisurely activities that reflect the interest and abilities of our residents.

Expansion

We are excited to see our facility grow in order to serve our community even better. We are currently working to develop independent living duplexes. For more information please call Sherry Rinke at 620-532-5801.
